Four woods. No compromise.

We only work with wood whose origin we know, often down to the individual trunk. Each wood smells different, holds heat differently and ages differently.

01

Kelo

Pinus sylvestris, dried while standing

Pines that dried upright for decades until their wood turned silver and hard. Every trunk is recovered by hand. There is no rarer sauna wood.

Origin
Lapland, Finland
Age
250 – 400 years
Scent
Resin, smoke, cold stone
02

Thermo Aspen

Populus tremula, heat-treated

Refined at 212 °C, resin-free and pleasantly cool to the touch. A calm, honey-coloured wood for saunas that are meant to be, above all, light.

Origin
Baltic States
Age
60 – 80 years
Scent
Honey, hay, warm bread
03

Hemlock

Tsuga heterophylla

Knot-free, with a fine, straight grain. Hemlock absorbs heat slowly and releases it just as slowly. The wood for long, gentle sessions.

Origin
British Columbia, Canada
Age
120 – 200 years
Scent
Cedar, rain, moss
04

Smoked Oak

Quercus robur, fumed

Solid oak, fumed for weeks until it turns deep and dark. For interiors with presence, paired with aspen for benches and backrests.

Origin
Spessart, Germany
Age
180 – 240 years
Scent
Leather, tobacco, embers

Frequently asked questions

Atelier indoor saunas start at €42,000, freestanding Refugium outdoor saunas at €68,000 and Solitär sauna pavilions at €124,000. Planning, manufacture, delivery and installation are included. You can see your personal price range directly in the configurator.

Depending on the model, 12 to 36 weeks. An Atelier indoor sauna is usually ready after 12 to 16 weeks, a Solitär pavilion including permits after 24 to 36 weeks.

Kelo is the rarest and most durable sauna wood: Lapland pine dried while standing, with a silver patina. Thermo aspen is resin-free and light, hemlock knot-free and heat-retaining, smoked oak dark and stately. We advise you with original samples.

That depends on the region, the size and the type of stove. Smaller outdoor saunas are often exempt from permits; wood-fired stoves require approval by a chimney sweep. For Refugium and Solitär we clarify this for you and prepare the planning application where needed.

Yes. We plan, build and install throughout the German-speaking Alpine region. Installation teams travel from our workshop in the Chiemgau.

Yes, that is what the Atelier line was developed for. We survey your bathroom to the millimetre, coordinate with your architect or developer and integrate ventilation, electrics and glass front flush with the existing architecture.
